Royal Southern Yacht Club

The Royal Southern Yacht Club offers a warm welcome to non-members wishing to enter our sailing events or looking for a berth in the heart of Hamble village.  Founded in 1837, our Patron is H.R.H. Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh K.G.K.T. We have a modern club house, with bars, restaurants and accommodation along with a reputation for running top-class sailing and social events. We have a growing membership and in June 2015 we commissioned the Prince Philip Yacht Haven, pictured.

Our busy sailing programme includes regular championship events along with monthly regatta racing, races and rallies for Cruisers, longer distance passage races to other Solent harbours & Poole, and the Deauville Race over the late May Bank holiday.  Our cruising programme includes cruiser races, regular mid-week and weekend cruises (sail and power) and frequent ladies afloat days.

The Royal Southern is a member of the International Council of Yacht Clubs who organise sailing in more exotic and warmer waters and we also participate in running Cowes Week, of which the Club is a founding partner.

Our thriving Youth Section meet regularly on Friday evenings throughout the summer with Club Peanuts, Optimists, Fevas and Lasers available for use, while the Junior Cadets can race on day boats and keelboats.  18- 25 year olds can become members of our Academy, which has a fleet of four J/80s, available to hire for general sailing/racing as well as Match & Team Racing.
